(sports) Physiotherapy

Rick Berends – Nadia Giampellegrini – Dominika Bezakova – Nathalie Godart

Physiotherapy is the treatment of injury, disease and disorders through physical methods. The interventions we are using are based on scientific evidence. Together with you we will create a treatment plan that suits your condition. A variety of reimbursable therapies are available. Below are some examples.

physiotherapy Luxembourg

Therapeutic massage, sports massage and relaxation massage with essential oils. This is a supportive technique, often used in combination with exercise therapy or manual therapy. Relaxation massage can of course be used to relax muscles that are tense due to stress.

Exercise therapy aimed at improving loss of movement, strength and flexibility, following an injury, surgery or in cases of neurological conditions. These techniques are often used to correct tension patterns in the muscular-skeletal system of the body. Through exercise, the body learns to use the corrected patterns properly.

Postural Therapy

Exercise therapy to improve general posture. Postural therapy is similar to exercise therapy, but focuses on the general posture. It is essential to establish what determines this general posture. Our posture is an expression of both our physical and emotional balance.

Lymph drainage

Lymph drainage is a very soft, decompressing ‘massage’ technique, which is used to help the circulation of the lymph. Different conditions, ranging from heart problems, removal of lymph nodes during a cancer treatment, pregnancies or even just a fall or blow can cause swelling in different body areas, which may be difficult to reduce. Next to this specific technique, our practice also stresses the importance of an adequate physical activity. Our goal is to coach and help people to get/stay physically active. Not only does it help with lymph circulation, but we’ll work together to try reaching personal goals and well-being.

Trigger point therapy

Trigger Points are painful or sensitive points (knots) in a muscle. Originally, these points cause pain when moving or even at rest. These trigger point can give local pain but also radiation in extremities. These Muscle Trigger Points are treated by applying pressure with the index finger or thumb to inhibit the process of muscle contraction and hence the painful nerve impulses. Dry Needling will be also an option for treating muscle trigger point, together with stretching exercise. Headache, hip complaints, shoulder pain and low back pain often have myofascial origin, Trigger point therapy often proves effective.

Manual Therapy

Therapy to correct and stabilize imbalances within the muscular-skeletal system, using a variety of techniques, which can be applied on muscles, tendons, ligaments or joints.  The goal is to improve tissue extensibility; increase range of motion of the joint complex; mobilize or manipulate soft tissues and joints; induce relaxation; change muscle function; modulate pain; and reduce soft tissue swelling, inflammation or movement restriction.
